You tap your thumb, the screen lights up, and you are in. It feels like magic, but convenience is often the enemy of security.

When you rely on your face or fingerprint to unlock your phone, your password is no longer a secret code—it is a physical object. It is something you leave on a water glass at a restaurant and something you walk around exposed to the world with.

Because it is physical, it can be used against you. A thief can force your thumb onto the sensor, or your six-year-old can hold the phone up to your face while you are napping to buy 500 Robux. But beyond accidental purchases and theft, there is a much bigger legal reality we need to talk about.

The Legal Gap: Your Body vs. Your Mind

There is a massive difference between how the law treats your body versus your mind.

Biometrics (The Body): Courts have often ruled that your fingerprint or face is like a physical key. In many situations, police with a warrant can physically compel you to use your thumb or hold the phone up to your face.

Passcodes (The Mind): A PIN or password lives inside your brain. Forcing you to reveal the contents of your mind is a much harder legal battle because it often falls under the protection against self-incrimination (the Fifth Amendment in the US).

Before I show you how to block these ads, you need to understand why this matters. Once you see how the modern internet works, you will never look at your mobile browser the same way again.

The Invisible Auction: Why Your Phone Feels Slow

When you type a web address and hit “Go,” you probably think your phone is just asking a server to send you an article. But behind the scenes, in the milliseconds before that page loads, a frantic, invisible auction is taking place.

Your browser effectively shouts to the entire internet ecosystem: “Hey, I have a user here looking at sports news. They live in this zip code and were recently shopping for shoes. Who wants to show them an ad?”.

Computers bid against each other in real-time, a winner is chosen, and the ad is pushed to your screen. This happens in the blink of an eye, but there is a catch.

Ads aren’t just pictures anymore; they are heavy, complex pieces of software called “scripts”. When these scripts load, they eat up your:

Memory (RAM)

Processing Power

Battery Life

Mobile Data: You are literally paying for the data required to download the ads that annoy you.

Because of that background, I have noticed a trend that nobody really likes to talk about: every year, the new Samsung Galaxy lineup gives us less and less reason to actually upgrade.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 and S26 Ultra were just announced today. If you ask what is so different about them, the honest answer is that they have the same looks, same cameras, and run apps at pretty much the same speed.

Instead of hardware, brands are pushing AI features. But let’s be real: most people will use the AI website summarizer or the photo edit feature to cut things out less than twice a year. Right now, these features are completely redundant.

However, Samsung did announce one major innovation exclusive to the Ultra model today that caught my attention.

The Game-Changer: Hardware Pixel Control

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra features hardware control of the pixels.

Think about those privacy screen protectors you normally have to buy and stick on your phone. With this new display technology, if you look at the screen straight on, you can see it normally. If you tilt the screen, whatever is on it disappears, preventing anyone on the side from peeking at your information.

+1

But what makes this so amazing is that it is not just a blanket screen protector. Because this is controlled at the hardware level, you can selectively enable the privacy effect for specific parts of your screen.

+1

Here is how you can customize it:

You can enable the privacy feature just for your incoming notifications.

You can activate it exclusively for password fields.

You can apply it to your keyboard when you are trying to type something.

You can even restrict it to work only inside your text messages.

Who is this upgrade actually for?

Normally, people buy a phone and use it for two to four years until it starts to feel sluggish as apps and websites get more demanding.

So, who is actually buying the S26 Ultra?

Tech enthusiasts who want to be at the forefront of technology and fall for the hype, like myself.

People who bought their phones four or five years ago, or have a lower-end phone, and have no choice but to upgrade because their old device is no good.

Buyers looking to future-proof their device for the next three or four years.

The Verdict

Could Samsung have put this feature on the base S26 model? Probably, yes.

But from a consumer and business perspective, if you are looking for a legitimate reason to upgrade to a new phone, this privacy feature could be the one. I plan to explore this a little more once I get my hands-on with the device. This feature alone is a great innovation and makes me willing to upgrade.

What do you think?

[Productivity] How to Utilize Hidden Productivity Features of a Samsung Galaxy

Bixby deep system integration with productivity tools

Ryan Kennedy

The Tech Learning Academy is now 22,000 member strong. It is a common narrative, and Bixby is often treated as the laughing stock of the assistant world. But I want to show you something that might just change your mind.

Running my daily workflow through my Galaxy S23, I’ve realized that Bixby is incredibly underrated. It actually features deeper, more useful native system integrations than Siri, allowing you to execute tasks much faster and with more convenience.

Here are two massive productivity hacks that prove Bixby is the real deal.

1. Voice-Activated Multitasking

We already know you can manually open one app, open a second, and fiddle with the multi-window settings. But Bixby allows you to bypass the tapping and set up your workspace entirely by voice.

Press and hold the side button on your phone to activate Bixby.

Say a command like, “Open Google Chrome and Facebook”.

Bixby will instantly snap both apps open side-by-side.

The system is smart enough to organize them based on your phrasing: the first app you say goes to the top, and the second goes to the bottom. You can seamlessly swap these out by saying “Open YouTube and Facebook” or even throw Google Maps into the mix. Once the apps are open, you can still grab the center divider with your finger to resize the windows to your liking.

2. Effortless Macro Tracking

If you are tracking calories, Bixby’s deep integration with Samsung Health and Samsung Food is a massive time-saver. Instead of paying for premium third-party tracking apps or wasting time manually searching for ingredients, you can just talk to your phone.

Tell Bixby exactly what you ate, such as: “I just had a chicken burrito with rice and black beans”.

Bixby quickly scans its nutritional database and automatically adds those items for you.

Save the meal to your daily consumption log, and it will instantly calculate your macros and calories.

It is incredibly specific. You can tell it you had a chicken burrito from Chipotle Mexican Grill—even with guacamole—and it will pull the exact nutritional profile for that specific restaurant item. While voice tracking might not be down to the exact scientific gram, it removes the friction of logging your food.

The Verdict

Unless you are just setting an alarm, asking Siri to do anything slightly complex usually results in it lazily searching Google or ChatGPT. Bixby, despite its outdated reputation, actually leverages deep, useful system integrations to control your phone.

I hope this makes your daily routine a little bit easier. Thanks for being part of the community, and I’ll see you in the next one.

[Security] How to Protect Your Identity and Credit/Debit Card Online

The Tech Learning Academy is now 22,000 member strong.

Ryan Kennedy

The Tech Learning Academy is now 22,000 member strong.
