Perhaps one of the worst things is getting punked by an iPhone kid who insists their voice assistant is far superior to Samsung’s Bixby. It is a common narrative, and Bixby is often treated as the laughing stock of the assistant world. But I want to show you something that might just change your mind.

Running my daily workflow through my Galaxy S23, I’ve realized that Bixby is incredibly underrated. It actually features deeper, more useful native system integrations than Siri, allowing you to execute tasks much faster and with more convenience.

Here are two massive productivity hacks that prove Bixby is the real deal.

1. Voice-Activated Multitasking

We already know you can manually open one app, open a second, and fiddle with the multi-window settings. But Bixby allows you to bypass the tapping and set up your workspace entirely by voice.

  • Press and hold the side button on your phone to activate Bixby.

  • Say a command like, “Open Google Chrome and Facebook”.

  • Bixby will instantly snap both apps open side-by-side.

The system is smart enough to organize them based on your phrasing: the first app you say goes to the top, and the second goes to the bottom. You can seamlessly swap these out by saying “Open YouTube and Facebook” or even throw Google Maps into the mix. Once the apps are open, you can still grab the center divider with your finger to resize the windows to your liking.

2. Effortless Macro Tracking

If you are tracking calories, Bixby’s deep integration with Samsung Health and Samsung Food is a massive time-saver. Instead of paying for premium third-party tracking apps or wasting time manually searching for ingredients, you can just talk to your phone.

  • Tell Bixby exactly what you ate, such as: “I just had a chicken burrito with rice and black beans”.

  • Bixby quickly scans its nutritional database and automatically adds those items for you.

  • Save the meal to your daily consumption log, and it will instantly calculate your macros and calories.

It is incredibly specific. You can tell it you had a chicken burrito from Chipotle Mexican Grill—even with guacamole—and it will pull the exact nutritional profile for that specific restaurant item. While voice tracking might not be down to the exact scientific gram, it removes the friction of logging your food.

The Verdict

Unless you are just setting an alarm, asking Siri to do anything slightly complex usually results in it lazily searching Google or ChatGPT. Bixby, despite its outdated reputation, actually leverages deep, useful system integrations to control your phone.

I hope this makes your daily routine a little bit easier. Thanks for being part of the community, and I’ll see you in the next one.
